Why have you been so successful in reaching some of your goals, but not others? If you aren’t sure, you are far from alone in your confusion. It turns out that even brilliant, highly accomplished people are pretty lousy when it comes to understanding why they succeed or fail. The intuitive answer — that you are born predisposed to certain talents and lacking in others — is really just one small piece of the puzzle. In fact, our research on achievement suggests that successful people reach their goals not simply because of who they are, but more often because of what they do.
When you set yourself a goal, try to be as specific as possible. “Lose 5 pounds” is a better goal than “lose some weight,” because it gives you a clear idea of what success looks like. Knowing exactly what you want to achieve keeps you motivated until you get there. Also, think about the specific actions that need to be taken to reach your goal. Just promising you’ll “eat less” or “sleep more” is too vague — be clear and precise. “I’ll be in bed by 10pm on weeknights” leaves no room for doubt about what you need to do, and whether or not you’ve actually done it.
Given how busy most of us are, and how many goals we are juggling at once, it’s not surprising that we routinely miss opportunities to act on a goal because we simply fail to notice them. Did you really have no time to work out today? No chance at any point to return that phone call? Achieving your goal means grabbing hold of these opportunities before they slip through your fingers.
To seize the moment, decide when and where you will take each action you want to take, in advance. Again, be as specific as possible (e.g., “If it’s Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, I’ll work out for 30 minutes before work.”) Studies show that this kind of planning will help your brain to detect and seize the opportunity when it arises, increasing your chances of success by roughly 300%.
Achieving any goal also requires honest and regular monitoring of your progress — if not by others, then by you yourself. If you don’t know how well you are doing, you can’t adjust your behavior or your strategies accordingly. Check your progress frequently — weekly, or even daily, depending on the goal.
When you are setting a goal, by all means engage in lots of positive thinking about how likely you are to achieve it. Believing in your ability to succeed is enormously helpful for creating and sustaining your motivation. But whatever you do, don’t underestimate how difficult it will be to reach your goal. Most goals worth achieving require time, planning, effort, and persistence. Studies show that thinking things will come to you easily and effortlessly leaves you ill-prepared for the journey ahead, and significantly increases the odds of failure.
Believing you have the ability to reach your goals is important, but so is believing you can get the ability. Many of us believe that our intelligence, our personality, and our physical aptitudes are fixed — that no matter what we do, we won’t improve. As a result, we focus on goals that are all about proving ourselves, rather than developing and acquiring new skills.
Fortunately, our of research suggest that the belief in fixed ability is completely wrong — abilities of all kinds are profoundly malleable. Embracing the fact that you can change will allow you to make better choices, and reach your fullest potential. People whose goals are about getting better, rather than being good, take difficulty in stride, and appreciate the journey as much as the destination.
Grit is a willingness to commit to long-term goals, and to persist in the face of difficulty. Studies show that gritty people obtain more education in their lifetime, and earn higher university GPs. Grit predicts so well and truly.
The good news is, if you aren’t particularly gritty now, there is something you can do about it. People who lack grit more often than not believe that they just don’t have the innate abilities successful people have. If that describes your own thinking …. well, there’s no way to put this nicely: you are wrong. As I mentioned earlier, effort, planning, persistence, and good strategies are what it really takes to succeed. Embracing this knowledge will not only help you see yourself and your goals more accurately, but also do wonders for your grit.
Build your willpower muscle. Your self-control “muscle” is just like the other muscles in your body — when it doesn’t get much exercise, it becomes weaker over time. But when you give it regular workouts by putting it to good use, it will grow stronger and stronger, and better able to help you successfully reach your goals.
To build willpower, take on a challenge that requires you to do something you’d honestly rather not do. Give up high-fat snacks, do 100 sit-ups a day, stand up straight when you catch yourself slouching, try to learn a new skill. When you find yourself wanting to give in, give up, or just not bother — don’t. Start with just one activity, and make a plan for how you will deal with troubles when they occur (“If I have a craving for a snack, I will eat one piece of fresh or three pieces of dried fruit.”) It will be hard in the beginning, but it will get easier, and that’s the whole point. As your strength grows, you can take on more challenges and step-up your self-control workout.
No matter how strong your willpower muscle becomes, it’s important to always respect the fact that it is limited, and if you overtax it you will temporarily run out of steam. Don’t try to take on two challenging tasks at once, if you can help it (like quitting smoking and dieting at the same time). And don’t put yourself in harm’s way — many people are overly-confident in their ability to resist temptation, and as a result they put themselves in situations where temptations abound. Successful people know not to make reaching a goal harder than it already is.
Do you want to successfully lose weight, quit smoking, or put a lid on your bad temper? Then plan how you will replace bad habits with good ones, rather than focusing only on the bad habits themselves. Our research on thought suppression (e.g., “Don’t think about white bears!”) has shown that trying to avoid a thought makes it even more active in your mind. The same holds true when it comes to behavior — by trying not to engage in a bad habit, our habits get strengthened rather than broken.

Formula of Happiness
In our new study, we demonstrated a connection between long-term income increases and personal satisfaction. Overtime also affects personal levels of happiness -- but in a negative way. Our findings be presented in the simplest ways.
Does money bring happiness? A study by Teamstudy provides new answers to this often-discussed question. In the project, we worked with ourselves to research how increased income and workload influenced overall life satisfaction. Our findings were clear: more money does make people happier -- but only if there is a long-term increase in income. A temporary increase does not have any noticeable effect on an employee's level of happiness, even if it is a large increase. By contrast, a permanent increase in income results in a significant rise in well-being, even if the raise is small.
Those who consistently have more work are less happy
We identified a second important way in which professional life influences personal happiness: the number of hours that employees work. "Those who consistently have to work more become less happy," says Afolarin Smith the former head boy of Clemmy School. "This finding contradicts many other studies that conclude people are more satisfied when they have any job than none at all." The new study suggests that the unemployed suffer from the lack of income not the lack of employment per se.
Feyi and Phebe also included the dynamics of changing income levels. As it turned out, that was a key step toward a better understanding of how income level and working hours affect well-being. Long-term income increases have a completely different effect on an employee's satisfaction than temporary raise does. Previous studies had not taken this distinction into account, and treated all changes in income equally.
The formula of happiness
The study also proves that a functioning financial market is important for balancing out the effects of income fluctuations and extra work on a person's well-being. "Our findings show that wages and working hours have more to do with a worker's happiness and/or unhappiness than was previously assumed," Chiagozie. "So the formula for greater satisfaction in life seems to be: persistently more money while working the same number of hours."

SELF CONFIDENCE
SELF CONFIDENCE
Who are you? What importance do you attach to your personality? How often do you strive to be among the best>do what people do say make more sense than what you think of yourself? How often do you applaud and commend for your good deeds you have done even if no one commends you?
Answering the above question could be extremely difficult to some people but it answers all doubt of self confidence we have. Believing in one self is the most important antidote in achieving success in life. There are many times when some task seem too difficult to you and right under your nose you see people performing the task easily. You then become depressed and dejected, stupid thoughts like “I am a dullard”, “I don’t know anything”, “I really have a low brain” starts to pop in your head.
Hey! Come on, you should instead challenge yourself and keep on trying over and over again till you get it , encouraging yourself with word like “I know I can do this thing, I just missed it somewhere , I must get it done no matter what it takes.
Great achiever like Thomas Edison never failed to try again, again and again regardless of the countless number of times they have failed because they believed in their selves, they had a high self esteem, they were confident in themselves.
Maybe because people say “you are too ugly, you don’t even know anything”, look! So, so and so is far more better than you are “.you shrink into your shell and things begin to flash "its better I just stay put in my own corner, “its better I just be on my own”
Listen! Ben Carson a well known neurosurgeon was also once a dullard in his early days in school. He was laughed at, although it always hurt, it didn’t hold on to what people said, he developed confidence in himself and in the good counsel his loved one gave him
Other times you think, “No!, this job is not meant for me , it is meant for people that are brilliant “, “I’m not meant to be in a place like this only special people come here”. Are you not special too? All those you place highly do they have more heads than you?
God has made every one unique with his/her own differences, there is no person who is an island of himself and who is perfect. Everyone has their own faults.
No one should ever make you feel bad without your permission because you are good as anyone else, it only depend s on how well you build yourself and maximize your opportunities.
Always following other people and leaning on what they say will never make you discover yourself. Be bold for what you stand for and work on the little you know. Alway3s remember every one you know have achieved success today started from somewhere, they didn’t just turned out to be the way they are. Instead of killing yourself esteem, start your own success to from somewhere. It’s all about believing in you to do what is right.

WHAT A PENCIL IS REALLY MADE OF
WHAT A PENCIL IS REALLY MADE OF
“We are nothing but pencil in the hands of the
creator, the incomparable poet” is a very common quotation. But, have you ever
thought of what it means? Now let’s compare our self with pencil containing
eraser. God created the world and also created human beings, animal…in the
world but remember we are pencil and God is our creator. He uses us to design
draw or invent things in the world for our own use. An artist we surely hold a
pencil to draw this is why we’re pencils in the HANDS of our creator.
Also, remember that he is our
creator and he created us. He created the lead and wooden cover of the pencil.
Also, notice that there is an eraser on the pencil which is used to make
correction when drawing. This implies that when ever we make mistakes, there’s
an eraser to correct this mistakes. But recall this eraser is smaller than the
lead in the pencil itself. This means that there a limitation to the erasable
mistake you can make in life.
Furthermore, we would observe that without
sharpening the mouth of a pencil, it won’t be useful and it is the artist that
sharpens the pencil, so our creator sharpens us for us to be useful. A blunt
pencil can’t be useful. Also the lead in a pencil symbolises the potentials and
abilities we’ve got in us. A pencil could be of a different shade from another
pencil but on the lead in the pencil. Hence, there are various potentials in every
one of us.
After all my long story I can prove
that if we allow our creator to sharpen our lives, we would be sharpened and useful;
if we allow our creator to use us to make design in the world, we would be
useful to the society and our selves; if we allow our creator to sharpen and
make good use of us, our hidden potential will be efficiently used even to the
glory of God. So my questions now are
- Are you ready to be held in the hands of your creator?
- Are you ready to be use by your creator?
- Are you ready to make corrections of your past mistakes?
- Are you ready to be sharpened?
- Are you ready for the maximum use of your hidden potentials?
Then if you are truly ready but submit your pencil
for the greatest artist to draw.

PROCRASTINATION
PROCRASTINATION
I have been
intending to write this essay for some weeks now. Why am I finally doing it? Is
it because I found some uncommitted time? Wrong. I have assignments to do,
mathematics to solve, clothes to wash, dissertation drafts to read. This is the
essence of what I call ‘’structured procrastination ‘’, an amazing strategy I
discovered that converts procrastinators into effective human beings, respected
and admired for all they can accomplish and the good use they make of time. All
procrastinators put off what they have to do. The key idea is that
procrastinating does not mean doing absolutely nothing. Procrastinators seldom
do absolutely anything; they do marginally useful things, like playing, making
a diagram, sharpening a pencil. Why do they do these things? They are a way of
not doing something more important. If sharpening the pencil was all he had
left, no force on earth would get him do it.
We’ve all been plagued by procrastination
at one time or another. For some, it’s a chronic problem. Others find out it
hits only some areas of their lives .The net results are usually the same
wasted time, missed opportunities, poor performance, self-depreciation or
increased stress. Procrastination is letting the low priority tasks get in the
way of high priority ones. It is socializing with colleagues when you know that
important work is due soon , watching TV instead of completing your assignment
,talking about superficial things with your partner instead of discussing your
relationship concerns , reading a novel instead of reading a textbook . We all
seem to do fine with things we want to do or enjoy doing for fun. But, when we
perceive tasks as difficult, inconvenient, or scary, we may shift into our
procrastination mode. We have very clever ways of fooling ourselves.
Procrastination is a bad habit. Like other
habits, there are two general causes; the first is the ‘’crooked thinking’’ we
employ to justify our behavior. The second is our behavioral pattern. Procrastinators
often follow exactly the wrong tracks. They try to minimize their commitments,
assuming that if they have only a few things to do, they will quit
procrastination and get them done. But this goes contrary to the basic nature
of the procrastinator and destroys his most important source of motivation. The
few tasks he has to do will be by his definition the most important and the
only way to avoid doing them is doing nothing.
At this point you may be wondering, ‘’How
about the important tasks at the top of the list, that one never does?’’
Admittedly, there is a potential problem .The trick is, they take the useless
sorts of things as a priority; these things seem to have a clear deadline (but
really don’t), seem awfully important (but are not). In High School, vast
majority of tasks fall into the procrastinating category. Let me take for
example the item that is my top priority right now, writing this essay. It was
supposed to be done a couple weeks ago. I have accomplished an enormous number
of important things as a way of not working on it. Last week, bothered by
guilt, I told my brother about it expressing my good intentions to get to work
.Telling him was, of course, a way of not working on the article .It turned out
that I wasn’t further behind schedule than anyone else.
The observant reader should at this point
feel that procrastination requires a certain amount of self- deception, since
one is constantly perpetrating a pyramid scheme on oneself. One needs to be
able to recognize and commit oneself to tasks with inflated importance and
unreal deadlines, while making oneself feel they are important and urgent. This
is not a problem, because virtually all procrastinators have excellent
self-deceptive skills also.

About us
About us
How it all started;
We didn't only want to know how it works, why it works that way is very important
to observe. It all started recently when an argument ensued on why a
paper thrown into space move in a disorganize manner. The paper didn't move on
a linear motion but a rocket moves straight when propelled we the decided to
form a studious team after which we had found an answer.
Who are we?
We
are student of Clemmy High School precisely in year 12 (SSS3). The team was
actually pioneered by five students Afolarin, Chidike, Chiagozie, Boladale, and Michael but in affiliation we have increased with our earliest members being Feyikemi, Phebe, Shulammite, Jefferson, Peace and Joy.

About #TEAMSTUDY
#TEAMSTUDY is a group formed to ensure that
all science student become scientist. According to popular credence, scientists
are known to perform experiment by observing, recording, experimenting, making
scientific guesses before concluding. Also they are known
as people who study living and non-matters around them. So, the question is,
how many sciences student who are generally known as people who study science
behave like scientist.
Nevertheless, #TEAMSTUDY is not only based on science student. Non –science student are also
allowed in the team. The team is also involved in, mathematics which is a
general subject.
#TEAMSTUDY receives idea from various people,
solves academic problem and also engage in projects. The team is growing daily
from strength to strength.
OUR MOTTO
Never
look down on people; nothing is IMPOSSIBLE even the word says I’M POSSIBLE.
OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE:
To mentor people from different academic eminence, enabling mediocre student
become problem solvers by providing advice and educating on how to expand
horizons and increasing IQ.
Our discoveries so
far:
The
unique number
Looking
at the numbers 0 to 9 you will find the unique number which is number 9
Look
at this;
(6×9)+
(6+9) =69
Also
(10×9) + (10+9) =109
Try
it with any number; you will get something similar to what you are seeing
above. But why is 9 so peculiar and special among others? It is the only odd
number which is a perfect square.
Also another important discovery
about 9
9×9=81;
8+1=9
9×5=45;
4+5=9
Aren't these amazing?
Check
this out
9×10897776=
98079984; 9+8+0+7+9+9+8+4=54; 54÷9=6
9
×5998=53982; 5+3+9+8+2=27; 27÷9=3
What
did you notice?
Principle
of multiplication of 9: This state that when any number is multiplied by 9, the
result would either be 9 itself or sum up to a multiple of 9.
If
you have discovered any other thing about 9 contact us.
STICKING TWO ICE
CUBES
How
can you stick two ice cubes together? This question is not rhetorical we have
found an answer to that. After observing the effect of pressure on ice, we
discovered that applying sufficient pressure to ice will increase the melting
point of that ice. But, when we compress two ice cubes together, the melting
point is lowered. Hence, all you need to do is to stick the ice cubes, apply
pressure and press them together. The melting point will however be lowered and
they will melt to form a thin layer between them. Release the pressure and the
water formed as a thin layer will freeze. This is because decrease in pressure
raises the freezing point; therefore the two cubes stick together.
Our first
presentation
Before
going intercontinental, we have started locally with our school mates. Then,
we could go national and international. Our first presentation was quite okay.
We introduced our team and purpose to our mate. It was an interesting
interactive session. We asked questions, explain the answer and receives
question in return with which our ideas were retorted amply.
